How would one turn a pickup truck into an amphibious vehicle?
I have a small pickup truck that I want to turn into an amphibious vehicle. I need an engineer's help to figure out what I would have to do to it. I know that I would have to make the doors and engine compartment watertight and move the air intake to the top of the car, but there are some other things that I'm not sure about, like would I have to move the exhaust pipe so that it vents above the water?
Also, I know that I'm not thinking of a million other things, so can anyone who works on cars/boats or is smarter than me in general list the things that I would need to take care of?
Top Gear UK did a challenge like that. Clarkson made a pickup truck cross the english channel. He had put a outboard engine on the back and made every thing else water tight. Search you tube for Top Gear amphibious Vehicle. Good lick with the truck, hope it works.
