Is it wrong to sell someone a piece of junk car?
I have a 97 saab. It looks great but it's been having lots of mechanical problems lately. I've put in 2 new direct ignition cassettes (and now it needs a third), I've put on new tires, a new main ignition relay. According to the dealer, it needs a vacuum hose and a speed sensor as well as the direct ignition cassette. But who knows...there could be more.
Anyways, I posted it on craiglist for $3450..the estimated private value is $4985. I had a few people interested in it. I feel guilty even thinking about selling it someone. If I just show them the problems the dealer found, and they still want to buy it, should I sell it?
Tell them the problems, that is why its cheaper than it would be in good condition. You can even put that on the bill of sale. Also add that it is in "as is" condition and the buyer accepts it that way. Keep a copy of the bill of sale for your records. Don't feel guilty about selling it if the buyer knows what they are getting.
