Where To Junk Car In Toronto
September 6th, 2010 by admin

How much will I pay to fix small gas leak on 1995 Toyota Corolla?

I have a very small spot where rust opened up a hole in the gas line under the car. Since the gas is under pressure from the fuel injector it starts to leak out (perhaps a thimble full over a night. I have received two quotes - one for $3000 and another for $1500 which are so wild and bizarre I'm baffled. Can this not be fixed by a patch or taking out the gas tank and running a new line? Both have said 450 in parts and thousands in labour costs - junk the car. But the car is in immaculate shape other than this one issue. Also, any suggestion where to go (live in Toronto but would consider between here out to Cape Breton NS) Thanks in advance!!!
I am fairly knowledgeable about cars but don't weld. I'm looking to keep this car going because its just such a great car - 12 years of problem-free driving!

Chances are the fuel line is in bad shape in that area. replace the bad portion, get a flaring tool, flare the cut ends for a hose and replace the bad area with a fuel hose. If you want to use premium hose then use 3/8 LP Gas hose (good for 3500 PSI) Use high qulity clamps. dont take your vehicle to people that want to ream you out because you dont know about cars. They will gouge you for all they can.
